Hybrid quantum optomechanicsUsing techniques, such as low-temperature micro-photoluminescence and optical detection of mechanical motion of nanostructures through scattered light, we study hybrid quantum optomechanical systems (HQOMS). In particular, quantum dots (QDs) that are embedded in nanofabricated optical waveguides. Mechanical oscillation induces deformations of the host structure that cause a shift in the band gap energy of the QDs.
In collaboration with other researchers from the Institute and also from other institutions, we will investigate the behavior of many HQOMS coupled among themselves by optical forces, forming a highly nonlinear system. Later, this rich system of optical and mechanical modes will be explored for its applications in classical and quantum communication and simulation.
